About the Hudson River Valley National Heritage
Named by Congress in 1996, the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area is one of the 49 state-approved National Heritage Areas in the United States. The Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area works in conjunction with the National Park Service to help people, governments, non-profit groups and individuals understand, conserve and commemorate the Hudson River Valley's important national heritage and nature.
This is how we promote the management of these assets and business operations at grassroots and provincial levels. Hudson River Valley Greenway is the administrative unit of the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area. The Hudson River Valley's missions are to maintain and promote the state's engagement in the conservation, upgrading and developing of the world-famous Hudson River Valley's landscape, nature, history, culture and leisure assets, while maintaining the focus on business growth and the traditions of community self-government.
The Congress calls National Heralitage Areas (NHAs) places where nature, culture and history connect to a coherent, national significant area. NHA' ressources tell important national histories celebrating our country's rich legacy. NHA' are inhabited sceneries. NHA units work with municipalities to identify how to make the legacy appropriate to their interests and needs.NHAs are a grass-roots, community-based approaches to preserving the legacy and promoting business development.
NHA units promote monument protection, protection of the environment, recreational activities, cultural and education activities through public-private partnership. As a member organisation of the Congress, the Alliance of Nationalitage Areas aims to raise the administrative community, the Congress, its affiliates and the general public's understanding of the advantages of Nationalitage Areas for the general and individual sectors and to promote education and partnership between organisations in the area of monument protection.
