Ulster YMCA receives state support

WASHINGTON, DC - US Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer and US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand pledged $928,685 in new government funds for the YMCA of Kingston and Ulster County in Kingston. This grant is given to YouthBuild, a pre-apprenticeship programme for vulnerable young people aged 16 to 24. The YouthBuild is a recognised pre-apprenticeship programme that assists vulnerable young people to take part in high schools or governmental equivalence programmes, obtain sector-wide certification for professions in need and receive education to construct homes for low-income or displaced people and their localities.

The YouthBuild program has a community of approximately 260 YouthBuild scholarships in 46 states.

Kingston and Ulster County YMCA receives $40,000 subsidy

The YMCA of Kingston and Ulster County has been awarded a $40,000 subsidy by the Louis Greenspan Charitable Trust. This subsidy will be used to renovate the high and low rope course at YMCA, Camp Seewackamano in Shokan. "At the YMCA, it is our business to promote young people," said Heidi Kirschner, YMCA Chairwoman and CEO, in a letter.
