Fifteen Central New York museums are free this Saturday (Thanks, Smithsonian Magazine!)
So if you've postponed a visit to the H. Lee White Marine Museum or the National Women's Hall of Fame, this Saturday is the perfect occasion. On Saturday, September 28, Smithsonian Magazine will hold its free festival in all 50 states. While not every U.S. Musuem is part of the programme, a good part of the Central New York museums, villas and historic places are.
Here is a listing of places that are less than two hour away if you have a vehicle. The Chemung County Historical Society in Elmira (2 hrs away). For free entry, visit Smithsonianmag.com/museumdaylive to get a free one. On 28 September, a free entrance pass gives you and one of your guests free entry to the museums of all 50 states.
