The Bluegrass Community and University of Applied Sciences

The Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) is a community college in Lexington, KY. This is one of sixteen two-year open college programs of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS). and Central Kentucky Technical College. The Lexington Community College was the last college left in the University of Kentucky Community College System until a ballot by the Board of Trustees in 2004 handed over the leadership to KCTCS.

Before 1984, the college was called Lexington Technology Institute. The Central Kentucky College was part of the Workforce Development Cabinet of the Kentucky State Government until the establishment of KCTCS in 1997. The KCTCS was founded in 1997 by the state legislative through House Bill 1, which previously brought together the universities of applied sciences of the Workforce Development Cabinet and community colleges with the University of Kentucky.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) akkreditiert. There are three major sites in Lexington and three other sites outside the BCTC's home town. The Cooper CAMPOCUS of the University of Kentucky is situated on the University of Kentucky CAMPUS, in the shade of Kroger Field.

Cooper Campus comprises the three campuses Academic Technical (AT), Oswald and Moloney. The Oswald is the central office and classroom complex, the Bluegrass Cafe, the Learning Resource Center (Library) or LRC and a Barnes & Noble College bookshop. Academic Technical (AT) Construction is mainly composed of class rooms, and Moloney has additional class rooms as well as several computer rooms and departments.

The Leestown Campus of the BCTC comprises four outbuildings. Builiding C contains a wide range of programmes, such as automotive engineering, welding, bodywork, cosmetics, a nursery, workforce solutions, and administration work. Its manufacturing facility comprises programmes in the fields of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance technology, machine tools, computer-aided drafting and various class rooms, office and laboratory space.

Buildings A has the university' s own student services department and a wide range of class rooms and programmes, which include health care and adult learning. The carpentry programme and the dispatch and reception are housed in B. Founded in autumn 2013, the Newtown Campus was opened on Newtown Pike in Lexington. AMTEC, a NSF-funded cooperation between community college and automobile manufacturer and supplier with a focus on engineering training, is an important part of the university.
