National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund is the federal insurance funds established by Congress in 1970 to provide insurance for members' contributions to credit cooperatives with federal insurance. NCUSIF is managed by the National Credit Union Administration and is supported by the full belief and recognition of the U.S. government. What is the financing of the funds?
NCUSIF remains at or near 1. 30% of the Swiss federal insurance contributions of credit cooperatives. The state-insurance credit cooperatives hold one per cent of their NCUSIF contributions and the NCUA Board can charge a bonus if necessary. In 1985, the credit cooperatives capitalised the fund on a voluntary basis by contributing one per cent of their contributions to the fund.
There has never been any taxpayer's contributions to the fund and no member has ever been deprived of funds covered by NCUSIF.
