Lower Hudson Valley (part of the New York-Wayne-White Plains Metro Division)

Each of these three provinces is part of the New York-White Plains-Wayne area, which in turn is at the heart of the New York area. They' re generally known as the Lower Hudson Valley. In Westchester County alone, there are around 950,000 people and around 70 per cent of the total local people.

The Rockland has 312,000 inhabitants, while Putnam has only 100,000 inhabitants. Overall, the populace of this area has grown by just over 4 per cent in the last ten years - twice as fast as in New York State, but less than half of the country's overall economic upturn. Demographics grow over the past decade, ranging from 2. 8 per cent in Westchester to 8. 7 per cent in Rockland; Putnam's populace increased by just over 4 per cent.

The larger towns in the area are all located in Westchester County. Yonkers is by far the biggest with almost 200,000 inhabitants; New Rochelle, Mount Vernon and White Plains each have between 50,000 and 80,000 inhabitants. Each of the three provinces is relatively prosperous and has a high level of education.

According to 2009 figures, Putnam County's average domestic incomes were around $88,000, Rockland's $83,000 and Westchester's $79,000 - all well above the national and country wide averages. With regard to education, 45 per cent of adult in Westchester County hold collegiate qualifications - one of the highest percentages of a shire in the state or state.

It is not far behind Rockland and Putnam in this respect, with some 40 per cent of the adult population being university graduates. The sector mix tends to be healthcare, educational and information, especially in Westchester counties. In addition, a number of large enterprises are based in Westchester District, making corporate governance another important sector of the country's economy.

Whilst the processing industry in general accounts for a relatively small proportion of the region's total population, the chemicals industry (mainly pharmaceuticals) is a very important part of Rockland County's population. There was a fairly large reduction in jobs in this sector during the recession: from the beginning of 2008 to the end of 2009, there was a fall in jobs of almost 6 per cent - only slightly less than at national level.

However, from 2011, the growth in jobs in the public economy more than compensated for the decline in public spending. At the end of 2013, the number of employees was around 3 per cent below the high at the end of 2007. House values in these areas are relatively high: based on 2007-09 figures, the average house value in Westchester County was over $560,000, in Rockland County just over $480,000 and in Putnam almost $430,000, all well over twice the national $185,000ian.

House price in all three districts between 2000 and 2006 doubles; from 2006 to 2010, house price falls were around 20 per cent in all three districts before rising again from 20111.
