Up-and-coming as well as prestigious internationally acclaimed modern artworks will be on display in a 12,000 sqm former DIY store in Peekskill. The centre, established by the Marc and Livia Straus families, is devoted to the creation and staging of exhibits and multidisciplinary programmes that enhance our appreciation of modern artworks, their context and their relation to the world.

The HVCCA is the main supporter of the Peekskill project, an yearly, city-wide exhibit of site-specific works of art. HVCCA is also involved in the enhancement of Peekskill, a multi-cultural society that is today an important art venue demonstrated by audiences from the world art scene, as quoted in a June 2014 Peekskill proclamation.

HVCCA has also added a series of sculptured works of art throughout the city centre's commercial quarter and on the banks of the Peekskill River, which can be seen on the following card.

Hudson Valley Center for Peekskill, NY, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit artistic and educational organisation established by the Marc and Livia Straus people. It is devoted to the creation and staging of exhibits and multidisciplinary programmes that enhance our appreciation of modern artworks, their context and their relation to the world.

The HVCCA is also involved in enriching Peekskill, a multiethnic society that has developed into one of the most important art destinations. The HVCCA runs an 12,000 sq. metre showroom and is the main supporter of the Peekskill project, a six-monthly city-wide show of site-specific works of art.

All museums and heritage sites, whether tax-exempt or state-owned, are free to take part in it.

Dr. Livia Straus has given numerous lectures on music, culture and spirit.

Livia Selmanowitz Straus is Professor of Education and Religious Thought at the Academy of Judaism and was Associate Professor of Theology at Fordham University. She was a lecturer at Hebrew Union College from 1994-1997. Dr. Straus received his doctorate in Judaic Studies at New York University, majoring in Mediaeval Judaic Studies.

Prior to his return to the University, Dr. Straus was Education Manager at Bet Am Shalom, a reconstructive congregation in White Plains, NY, Park Avenue Synagogue (Conservatives) and Central Synagogue (Reform), both in Manhattan.
