Visiting Millbrook Vineyards & Winery on the Dutchess Wine Trail
We' re in New York on our way to the Wine Bloggers Conference in Corning. The first stop is the very nice Hudson Valley. He stayed in Hyde Park in New York, where FDR grew up and where he finally founded the first presidential library. Vanderbilt House and Gardens in Hyde Park is also recommended.
Hyde Park has little else to show than visiting these historical sites. To put it briefly, it's the opposite of Hyde Park. We' re amazed at the number of vineyards in the Hudson Valley. Millbrook Vineyards & Winery is the best-known winery in the Hudson Valley.
The Millbrook has received compelling testimonials from the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and the Wine Spectator as one of the best vineyards in the Hudson Valley. Then we drove on some nice tree-lined side roads to the Dutchess County Wine Trail. Millbrook Vineyards & Wine is located in a wonderful environment.
Weingut has a quiet picknick area with a view of an watering lake and vines on the slope. There is a brief walk through the vines, which makes a bend around some very beautiful vines and outlooks. He was a funny guy on our servers, joking about the wine Snobs in California.
The Millbrook estate is owned by John Dyson, who also has Willams Seylem in the Russian river valley. We have recently inspected and inspected Williams Seylem. While we sampled 8 Millbrook wine; 6 were part of the $11 per capita wine sampling charge, our servers had a few bonuses to try.
The Millbrook Tocai Friulano was my favourite wine. It is an Italian grapes that was processed at Millbrook about 25 years ago. This is a beautiful wine with a hint of sugar. After a picknick with the delicious Tocai Friulano we went on a hike through the vineyards.
It was the wheather that created a different atmosphere in the wine world. The vineyard has a different appearance, and a very beautiful one at that. Millbrook is open from 11am to 6pm during the school year. Milfbrook also has a timetable of Saturday season Sommer Jazzbets.
