New York Discover Hudson Valley Tour Bike - 100 Leagues
The Hudson is a great way up and down and four through. Feel good for the first 90 mile, but almost completely dissipated in the last ten mile. All in all I was satisfied with my relatively low level of biking - 25 mile in 1:31, 50 mile in 3:02 and 100 mile in 6:05.
It' a good trip for quick seasons when you're in good condition (which I wasn't!). The Hudson is a great way up and down and four through. Discover Hudson Valley Ride' an experience for bikers of all skill level.
Poughkeepsie, N.Y. -- The Discover Hudson Valley Rideset for June 26th will offer bikers a wide range of trails through an incredibly scenic part of the state, from simple 15 to demanding 100 mile. Each trip starts and ends at Victor C. Waryas Park in Poughkeepsie, right next to the North Metro-Stations.
"Around the Walkway Over the Hudson, the longest pedestrian bridge in the whole Hudson region, this trip is all about discoveries," says Bike New York, who is organizing the even. "To some, this means relaxing on one of the short distances and just enjoy the beautiful landscape of the Ulster and Dutchess County.
"To others it means to discover what you are able to do - with more than 5,800 ft of climbing, the 100-mile trail is definitely something to boast about. "Bike New York is a non-profit group that "promotes biking in all five districts of New York City through educational and social activities, as well as working with local government organisations and authorities.
" Discover Hudson Valley is one of its fundraisers. A further activity is the 5 Boro Bike Race through the city of New York City. One of the five different itineraries is the Walkway Over the Hudson, which spans the Hudson River between Poughkeepsie on the eastern shore and Highland on the western shore.
"Each itinerary is on the sidewalk and includes fully-stocked service areas (food and water), bicycle service areas and marshalls along the itinerary to help with bicycle maintenance and other problems," said Sam Polcer, Co-Op. "We will also have SAG (Support and Gear) cars along the tracks to help the bikers and take them back to the park if they choose not to complete the ride.
" After the bike ride, there will be a "finish festival" with dinner, drinks and livemusic in the garden, which will last until 5 p.m., says Polcer. "From the Hudson on the Walkway to the quiet railroad and picturesque side roads of Ulster County before returning to the Waryas Rivers and Parks, this family-friendly ride will take the drivers along the Hudson.
