Focusing on alphabetization, arts, early STM, healthcare and the communities, the museum attracts over 55,000 annual guests and provides a pedagogically diverse setting in which kids have the chance to learn basic abilities, gambling and developing relationships.

COMMISSION: Strengthen small kids and their family. The MHCM is the only children's museum in the Hudson River Valley between the major New York and Albany malls. MHCM opened the Science Center @ MHCM in February 2016 to promote early learning in the field of STM. Situated in the centre of Poughkeepsie's historical riverside promenade, just a few minutes walk from Poughkeepsie Metro North railway terminal, the Walkway Over the Hudson's Elevator, fantastic dining and a new citypark.

MHCM' s program focuses on three areas that guide its work in exhibitions and education programs: Going to and from schools, Healt & Wellbeing, and Social Build. Its mission is to attract and serve a wide range of audiences from all socioeconomic and ethnical background, skills and needs through specific reception and fellowship programmes.

Mid-Hudson Children's Museum and its employees have received several important recognition from the Chamber Foundation, Inc. in the areas of management, social responsibility and commitment to the family: 2015 ATHENA Leader's Award. Mid-Hudson Children's Museum is an 501 (c)3 nonprofit education organisation backed by affiliate and member selling, programme dues, contributions and subsidies.

The MHCM ist Mitglied der American Alliance of Museums (AAM), der Association of Children's Museums (ACM), der Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC) und der Museum Association of New York (MANY). The Mid-Hudson Children's Museum was established in 1989 by a group of people in Poughkeepsie who felt that Hudson Valley kids should have direct contact with an original educational setting and worked for many years in donor rooms in the city of Poughkeepsie and then in the South Hills Mall.
