ristop Brown is a preoccupied man. A winegrower and advisor in four Hudson Valley vines, he is always on the lookout for world-class vintages. The work at Millbrook Winery 13 years ago was the catalyzer for Brown's winemaking careers. After an apprenticeship with Benmarl Winery in Marlboro and later in Washington State, he learned how the West Coast winemaking is made.

It' s again the Hudson Valley in our favourite way: to eat local specialities from the best restaurants in the area. Pan-fried Bio Amsterdam chickens from Forty North, one of the restaurants taking part in this year's Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. It' a burgers from Harper's Restaurant. There are several accommodations, such as the Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz (whose menus suggest combinations of wines for each entrance).
The many new attendees are the best. If you haven't been to the renovated 121 Restaurants (or One Twenty One?) in North Salem, Forty North in Hastings or Harper's Restaurants and Bar in Dobbs Ferry (where I recently had a tasty meal), now's your time.
The Hudson Valley Restaurant Week is the ideal place to spend your holiday at New Paltz's Mohonk Mountain House if you're looking for a summer excursion that won't take you too far away.
