Panoramas: Lower Valley
Warwick Street Scene
Drag your mouse in the image to control.

Somehow despite the constant pressures of its proximity to New York City, Warwick has managed to maintain a quaint and classic small town look and feel. Its downtown is small and filled with unique shops, from nouvelle cooking apparatus to chic women's wear, from antiques to contemporary furnishings. A stroll down Warwicks three block long Main Street is a stroll down all the best that is available.

And Main Street keeps reinventing itself. Store fronts are redone, new shops take up residence and older shops are transformed. Warwick prides itself on its still vibrant and exciting Main Street shopping. For a quick break, try one of the restaurants or cafes on Main Street, all serving excellent family fare at reasonable prices. Or step back in time into a real old fashioned, and still very functioning, hardware store. Listen to the old boards creak under foot as you gaze up to the ceiling at notions and things of mystery. What is that doohickey for anyway?

On any Sunday from May thru October, take advantage of the Warwick Valley Farmers Market across the stream in the South Street Parking Lot. Farmers and vendors from around the area bring the freshest produce and products to tempt your pallet and take advantage of your weaknesses.

And walk along Main Street to Lewis Park, the heart of Warwick's Historic District. Lewis Park is a small verdant green oasis where you can take a quick rest among the trees, walk on actual grass, and breath in the sights and sounds of small town America.
