The Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson is one of those sweet hidden gems that can be found sprinkled throughout the Hudson Valley. It lies on the southern banks of the Newburgh Bays, tucked beneath the north rise of Storm King Mountain.

It's now mostly a bedroom community of commuters, yet it manages to maintain a unique sense of identity and a vibrant business district. The downtown blocks bustle with activity from sidewalk cafes to ice cream shops to art galleries to boutiques.

Early in America's history, Cornwall was a vital center of commerce and shipping along the Hudson. From its strategic location, it commands the entrance to the North Gate of the Hudson Highlands, the bottle-neck created by the Hudson River as it flows south into the Hudson Highlands.

Along the river itself, Cornwall has created a charming riverside park. Great lawns allow for ball playing, wandering and snoozing. Residents can be found on pleasant days picnicking on the tables near the bank. Private boats cruise by and children play along the river's edge.
