Ski Windham

The idea of a ski resort in the Northern Catskills was introduced by a New York State legislative committee in the late 1950s. They considered developing a state-run resort on Cave Mountain, just off Main Street in the Town of Windham. Although this project never advanced beyond the discussion stage, the idea took hold and a group of private investors purchased the land for a ski area in 1960 and Windham Mountain was born. During its 45 years of existence the resort has become associated with customer care and attentiveness to its guests.

The beauty of Windham Mountain is that it's filled with moments of pure exhilaration for skiers and boarders of every level. Just starting out? Wooly Bear is the perfect slope for practicing your stops and turns. Intermediates looking for an adrenaline rush can check out Lower Wolverine or Upper Wiseacres. And experts out for a sick run should definitely hit Upper Wheelchair.

A family friendly ski resort, Windham Mountain has terrain, equipment and lessons for every member of the family at every level of abilities. Ski down the exhilirating slopes, tube in the Adventure Park, snowboard on special trails or take a lesson from one of the instructors. Windham Mountain has it all.

How's this for a mid-afternoon moment? You're rocketing down a 650-foot snow-covered slope, lying flat on your back in a canvas-covered tube. And the only thing louder than your shrieks of delight are the screams of pure joy coming from your kids in the next lane.

It's called snow tubing, Windham style, and it's just one more way we try to make your day on the mountain an unforgettable adventure. And give Mom the opportunity to push Dad down a mountain.

Located at our Mountaintop Adventure Park, the tubing hill is many lanes of downhill fun. Best of all, no skill is required. Just as long as you're tall enough to get in and out of the tube, you can ride.

Just 25 minutes from New York State Thruway exit 21, (2 1/4 hours from Metro New York), Ski Windham is at the tip of the Great Northern Catskills with a 1600' vertical drop with 33 trails ranging from the daunting to the downright easy.

It doesn't just have something for everyone, it has lots of things for everyone. From steep descents down the west side of the main mountain to the perfectly pitched cruisers to acres of natural terrain among the trees, there is plenty to satisfy whatever cravings you have. Add to that mix their endless snow parks and special contoured grooming, one full trail studded with intermediate-level moguls, bumps, spines and whales, and a separate experts-only mountain peak with its own exclusive lift, and you can see why they claim their mountain is "twice the fun.:

With their snow making system, you'll always be assured of the best possible conditions. You've got one hour to try it and if you're not happy with the snow for any reason, they give you a full value Snow Check valid for another day - NO questions asked.

Families will love the Children's Learning Center with its specially designed ski and snowboard programs. Small classes and kids-only terrain make learning to ski and ride downright fun.
