Hunter Mountain is a four-season
resort located just over two hours from the New York metropolitan
area. The focal point of the resort is the the ski and
snowboard mountain itself, boasting a 1,600 foot vertical
drop.
From it's inception
in the late 1950s, the owners and management of Hunter
Mountain have been committed to providing quality snow
conditions throughout the season through extensive snowmaking.
Hunter was the first in the state to install snowmaking,
the first with top-to-bottom snowmaking, and the first
to have 100% snowmaking coverage of the entire mountain.
Hunter has always be an industry leader.
We take credit for the idea of a flexible tiller for
grooming, which has vastly improved snow surfaces around
the world. We're proud to have hosted world cup pro
races in the past, and we continue to host high caliber
events like the NorAm SuperSeries.
Hunter Mountain, like any other resort,
has grown in stages over the years. Our most recent
expansion was also our largest. The Kaatskill Mountain
Club, our landmark hotel located slopeside, opened in
August 2005. This fractional-ownership condominium-style
hotel features beautifully-appointed guest rooms from
studio to three-bedrooms, and includes a full-service
spa, health club and fitness center, year-round outdoor
pool, restaurant and lounge, all with ski-in/ski-out
convenience.
Three separate mountains encompassing
a wide variety of terrain catering to skiers and riders
of all ability levels - from comfortable and spacious
learning terrain perfect for first-time beginners, to
steeps and bumps for the seasoned expert - there is
something to satisfy any ski or ride style!
Lifts Open at 8:30am and Close at
4pm. Hunter West Hours: 9:30am to 3:30pm. Base Lodge
opens at 6am.
Hunter is the closest big mountain
skiing to New York City. There doesn't have to be snow
where you are for Hunter to have snow on its trails.
Located in the heart of the Catskills, the weather is
different from the lower Valley and NYC, it's colder
and snowier. Combined with that, Hunter has extensive
snowmaking capabilities, allowing them to have groomed
well covered trails all season. Chances are you'll get
mid-winter conditions any day of the season.
Hunter continues to live up to the
name - Snowmaking Capitol of the World. The snowmaking
and grooming crews often work 24 hours a day!
Hunter has 3 expansive mountains of
diverse terrain to ski and ride. Forget long lift lines.
There are 14 lifts and 53 trails. You put it together
and you'll definitely get it all at Hunter!
Kids love Hunter too. There's lots
of activities and terrain that's fun for kids. Children,
aged 12 and under, can ski or ride free midweek, non-holiday
when accompanied by an adult purchasing a full price,
all area ticket for that day. A second, 12 and under,
skis or rides for half price. Bring your family and
make it up to Hunter during the week - your kids will
be glad you did.
